PAU creates eco-friendly fruit fly trap, brings joy to farmers
How to use fruit fly traps
Fix fruit fly traps during April’s second week in plum, May’s first week in peach, May’s third week in mango, June’s first week in pear, July’s second week in guava and in second week of August in kinnow.
The traps should be kept in each fruit crop till the harvesting is over.
Traps should be fastened to the trees using metallic wires at a place receiving no direct sunlight.
This is an eco-friendly technology.
It is not an expensive technique compared to insecticides and other chemical sprays for crops by farmers.
Same trap can be used in different fruit crops by using the rechargeable plywood block.
A single trap has the capacity to trap about 6,000 male fruit flies. The trap does not allow the male flies to breed
